About NDUFC Trials

  • North Durham United FC holds Trials for our Development Program (U8-U12 travelling teams) and for our Competitive Program (U13 - U18 competitive travelling teams)
  • Trials for players interested in being evaluated for these teams and  programs are held in late September/early October each year for the next year's outdoor season
  • All players (new and returning) are required to attend the Trials each year
  • New players moving to the area after the scheduled trials are welcome to contact the Club to inquire about available roster spots

Attendance at the Trials provides the Club with a indication of which age groups have sufficient players to field a team for the coming season.

Following the Trials, a selected player is provided with a Letter of Offer from the Club, with a timeframe to commit to the team

All selected players must accept the Letter of Offer and Register with North Durham United FC  by November 1st annually.  A non-refundable deposit is requested at this time.

Development and Competitive teams start with indoor winter training, followed by outdoor spring training, before the summer leagues begin

Further Trials Information:

  • See the Trials Schedules for the proposed teams
  • To determine the correct trial session and team, we use the player's birth year, not the player's current age
  • Players are required to trial for their age group (as determined by Ontario Soccer)
  • Players are encouraged to attend all of the scheduled trial sessions in their age group. Please contact the Club if less than two trials can be attended.
  • NOTE: COVID Contact Tracing and Wellness Checks still in effect for Outdoor Trial Sessions. Players must complete and bring the Approved Wellness Check to each Trial session and present when signing in. Link to Wellnesss Check and instructions are found on our Home page.
  • For directions to the various field facilities please refer to the Facilities page on the web site
  • Please arrive 10 minutes early for your trials in order to sign in and have time for a proper warm-up
  • Dress for the weather in layers and bring a refillable water bottle. NDUFC will hold Trails rain or shine, in all but extreme conditions.
  • Girls may attend a trial for a Boys team
  • A Trial Waiver is only required if the player did not play with any Ontario Soccer affiliated club in the past soccer season (part of online trials registration)
  • The final NDUFC teams fielded each season are dependent on the number of qualified players and coaches that NDUFC has registered for each age group, as of league registration deadlines
  • Occasionally, an age group may combine two birth years.
  • The opportunity for an individual player to 'play up' an age group is a special circumstance and is only accommodated at the discretion of the Club coaching and technical staff, with board approval. A younger player is permitted to 'play up' on an older team by one birth year only. Playing Up Permission Form is required and must be signed by the parent, coach and then approved by the Board, if a player wants to attend a trial for an older team when a team is already available at that player's age group. There is a regulatory process in place for players playing up at the younger age groups that must be followed.
  • NDUFC also has a 'call up' system for the older age groups whereby an interested player in our Recreational Program may request to be evaluated and rostered, in-season, as a 'call up' player should a competitive team need a player or wishes to offer a development opportunity to  our Recreational players
